If you're running an online business or are interested in marketing, you've probably heard the term SEO. SEO, also called search engine optimization , is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization. So what is search engine optimization? Simply put, it means top impressions in search results.
If you are in business, I think you are well aware of how powerful marketing effect is to be ranked high in search engines such as Naver and Google. But if you just post articles or content, will they all be on the top? Of course, if you're lucky or the content is really good, you can get top impressions from time to time. However, exposing all content to the top as desired is not an easy task without professional knowledge.
Although there is a slight difference, search engines such as Google and Naver have something called 'conditions' that give top exposure. So, even if you publish content on the same subject, the content that better meets this 'condition' is exposed at the top.
After all, doing SEO means meeting the 'conditions for top exposure set by the search engine'. For those of you who are still unfamiliar with it, today, with a very easy example, I will tell you about the concept of SEO and why you need it. If you read this article to the end, I think you will have a solid answer to what SEO is and why you need it.
(Case 1)
Young-hee is watching YouTube on her smartphone today as well and is on her way home from work. However, when Young-hee clicks on the video she wants to see, an advertisement for a spinal correction chair appears instead of the desired video. Normally, I would ignore it and press the skip button, but recently, the amount of time in front of the monitor has increased and the pelvis and lower back have been uncomfortable. do. However, I stopped thinking about it and did not actually click on the advertisement. Because I felt like I was being too impulsive. So Yeong-hee headed home while watching the YouTube video she had been wanting to watch.
A few days later... …
Again today, Yeong-hee is working overtime. As I work in a bent position all day, my back seems to be getting worse today. At the same time, I remembered the chiropractor chair that I saw in a YouTube ad a few days ago, 'It perfectly supports the waist and finds the hidden S-line as well as posture correction'. Young-hee thinks that health is more important than work, so she runs to the computer and searches for 'spine correction chair'. This is because Ms. Younghee always checks and compares the lowest prices and vivid reviews on the Internet before buying anything.
When Yeong-hee searches for 'spine correction chair' in the search bar, a number of sites advertising similar products appear. But it's not hard. Young-hee, a smart consumer, has a reluctance to advertise, so she scrolls down quickly as if she were going down a slide. Then, excluding advertisements, we enter the vivid review blog at the top. Younghee’s review that a blogger actually used it and wrote it really touches me. By the way, this blog has more than 10,000 visitors today. trust goes. Even at the end of the article, I left the address of a site where you can buy various types of spine chairs at the lowest price.
So Yeong-hee ordered a chair for correcting the spine with the idea of at least not hurting her back while working.
(Case 2)
Chul-su, who was working from home due to the corona virus, decided to meet a friend for a drink after a long time. I plan to go to Hongdae to feel better. Whether it's because we haven't seen each other for a long time, or because the drinks are delicious, as we enjoy spending time with friends, the time has become quite late. Time has already passed the last train and we are getting closer to the first train.
Mr. Cheolsu said that it was a pity to break up like this, and asked his friend to break up with him because he didn't know when we would see each other again. Cheol-su's friend agrees with this and is looking around for a Haejang-guk restaurant. However, no matter how much you look around, you can't find a proper Haejangguk restaurant in front of the two of them. However, Mr. Cheol-su said, 'Isn't there a Haejangguk restaurant around Hongdae?' He took out his smartphone and searched for 'Hongdae Haejanggukjip'.
According to the search results, there are several Haejangguk restaurants not far away. The streets seem to be the same. Cheol-su, who was contemplating where to go, clicks on the post at the top to get more information. It is a house that has used all the ingredients that are good for rejuvenation, but the visitor reviews are also quite good. The location doesn't seem too far away. Cheolsu shows the screen of his smartphone to his friend and asks, 'How are you here?' My friend says anywhere is good and tells Cheol-su to guide him along the way.
So, without hesitation, the two headed to Haejang-gukjip, which is said to have used good ingredients for rejuvenation.
We saw the case of Ms. Young-hee, who bought a chiropractor chair, and Mr. Cheol-su, who went to Haejang-gukjip with a friend. After telling me about SEO, I was like, 'Why are you talking about this case?' Some of you may think so. However, this case is the best example of the power of SEO. So let's go through them one by one.
First of all, seeing Case 1, Ms. Young-hee became aware of a product called 'Spine Correction Chair' through a YouTube advertisement. In fact, if it hadn't been for the YouTube ad where he saw the product for the first time, Ms. Yeong-hee might not have known that a product called a chiropractic chair existed for the rest of her life. The power of advertising is also great. But did Ms. Young-hee buy the product through an advertisement? no. Ms. Young-hee obviously learned of the existence of the chiropractic chair through an advertisement, but did not purchase the product through the advertisement. Rather, they did an act of 'search' to get information about the lowest price and reviews of the product.
Next, let's look at the case of Mr. Cheolsu wanted to eat hot haejangguk. After recognizing that 'I want to eat Haejangguk', what Cheolsu did was to 'search' to see if there were any Haejangguk restaurants nearby and where they were delicious. In addition, Mr. Cheol-su chose a 'good looking' place as his final destination, not just a 'near' haejangguk restaurant.
Do you see anything in common between the above two cases? As you may have already noticed, the common and hidden power of the two cases lies in the keyword 'search'. When information about a product or service enters a customer's head, most people go through an action called 'search'. It's a result of our human instinct to make better decisions (whether there's a cheaper product or a really good product). A brief summary of this stream of consciousness is as follows.
Awareness of a product or service > Curiosity (Is it what I need, how can I use it later if not right now) > Acquire information (search) > Make a decision (whether to buy or not)
In other words, since consumers go through a process called 'search' to make more rational decisions, sellers or suppliers must make their products or services exposed to the results of this process called 'search'. However, simply appearing in search results doesn't mean much. This is because there are not many customers who want to eat a bowl of haejangguk and look through the search results on pages 4-5. In other words, it can be said that SEO is really good only when it is exposed on the 1st page in the search results and the 1st and 2nd posts within it. In summary, SEO is the task of exposing your content or site to the top among numerous search results. So, how can I make my site and content 'searched' at the top of a lot of information?
In the next lesson, I will explain the most basic process you should know about SEO and how to do it without money. thank you.
